Question: I am looking for information before deciding to see insurance agent. Would appreciate
if you could kindly assist on my enquiries below:-
(a) Will the insurance cover for medical treatment/expenses on high blood pressure and diabetes (not pre-exisiting
condition when sign up an insurance policy)?
THE MEDICAL INSURANCE IN MALAYSIA WILL ONLY COVER TREATMENTS DURING ADMISSION OR SURGERY. FOR HIGH BLOOD
PRESSURE OR DIABETES PATIENT ( NON PRE EXISITING), IF THE PATIENTS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL, INSURANCE WILL COVER ALL
THE MEDICAL EXPENSES, HOWEVER IF ONLY OUTPATIENT, NO COVERAGE ON THE EXPENSES
(b) Is every insurance company (in Malaysia) comprises exclusions as below? or only some insurance companies
have stated such exlusions? If yes, which insurance company?
FOR HIGH BLLOD PRESSURE, NO EXCLUSION EXCEPT SOME LOADING DEPENDS ON HOW WELL THE PATIENT CONTROLS HIS/HER HIGH
BLOOD CONDITION. FOR DIABETES, SOME COMPANY IMPOSE EXCLUSION, SOME NOT OFFER ANY MEDICAL CARD TO DIABETES PATIENT
(c) Which insurance companies are offering traditional life insurance policy? Please provide the company names
and product names (for my shortlisting purpose).
ALL THE INSURANCE COMPANIES IN MALAYSIA OFFERS TRADITIONAL INSURANCE EXCEPT PRUDENTIAL..NOT MUCH CHOICES
(d) What are the main differences between "term life insurance" and "whole life insurance", especially in terms
of : premium, medical riders, refund, partial refund, no refund of premium etc.
TERM MEANS COVERAGE PROVIDED FOR CERTAIN DURATION, NORMALLY IS NON-PARTICIPATING POLICY, POLICY WITH NO CASH VALUE
NEITHER DIVIDEND DECLARED.
WHOLE LIFE IS PARTICIPATING POLICY WITH CASH VALUE AND THE PREMIUM SHALL BE PAID TILL DEATH OR TOTAL PERMANENT
DISABILITY OF THE APPLICANT.
MEDICAL RIDERS WILL INCREASE IN PRICE ACCORDING TO THE AGE CHANGE. FOR BOTH TERM AND WHOLE LIFE.
REFUND MEANS SURRENDER VALUE? ONLY APPLICABLE TO WHOLE LIFE POLICY.
(e) Do you know the main differences among these cancer-related product?
(i) Cancer care
(ii) Cancer Shield plus
Do you have any recommendation on other similar cancer-related products?
ALL THE INSURANCE COMPANIES OFFERS 36 CRITICAL ILLNESSES WHICH COVERS ALL TYPES OF CANCER IF IS MAGLINANT. HOWEVER,
IST STAGE CANCER NORMALLY IS BENIGN, CALL CARCINOMA IN SITU, VERY MILD AND NO CHEMOTHERAPY IS REQUIRE, IF YOU HAVE
MEDICAL CARD, IT WILL PAY FOR YOUR MEDICAL EXPENSES BUT NO LUMP SUM PAY OUT ON THE 36 CRITICAL ILLNESSES
SOME COMPANIES DO HAVE THE RIDERS ON 1ST STAGE CANCER, CARCINOMA IN SITU
Question: Does medical insurance cover pregnancy?
Answer: Medical insurance does not cover pregnancy. Why? Pregnancy is not regarded as a
sickness or disease.
Question: Does medical insurance cover lasik surgery?
Answer: As far as we know, general medical insurance does not cover lasik surgery. Lasik
surgery is done to correct eyesight so that the patients do not have to use spectacles. It is more of a choice
for cosmetic, beauty or convenience done with mutual arrangement between the operator and
patient. Short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism or visits to the optician or optometrist is not
covered under medcial insurance.
Question: I have had ICD, can I get a medical insurance policy.
Answer: At the moment, we are advised by the insurance companies we serve, that we do not cover that
situation. However, please check.
